Funding For State Hwy 361
Connecting Padre Island/Port Aransas Approved
Austin, Texas –State Representative Todd Hunter (R-Corpus Christi) announced today that the Texas Transportation Commission approved the much needed improvements to Hwy 361 between Port Aransas and Padre Island/Corpus Christi.
“This should provide great and needed improvements to our area. Thanks to the Commission and all of the Port Aransas and Padre Island and Corpus Christi residents who helped make this happen,” said Rep. Hunter.
“Through the efforts of Representative Hunter and representatives of the Texas Department of Transportation approval of the funding of upgrades to this increasingly traveled highway is one of the most important accomplishments for the future of Port Aransas and Padre Island,” said President & CEO of Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce, Ann Bracher Vaughan.
“The corridor between our neighbor Port Aransas and ourselves here on Padre Island is the vital logistical component of the business and Texas tourism growth we are both experiencing. The need for State improvements are of paramount importance. Without it, our economic development will figuratively and literally become bottle- necked to a standstill,” said Executive Director of the Padre Island Business Association, Stan Hulse.
